Xu Jinghe attends Global Harmonization Working Party annual meeting
Xu Jinghe, deputy commissioner of China's National Medical Products Administration, attended the 28th annual meeting of the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) and the 28th GHWP Technical Committee Meeting, which were held in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, from Dec 9 to 12.
The annual meeting adopted 10 technical guidelines and approved the accession of Botswana, Ghana, China's Macao Special Administrative Region and Uzbekistan. The GHWP now has 38 member countries and regions, with a total of 66 technical guidelines. More than 400 representatives engaged in discussions on promoting global medical device regulatory convergence, harmonization and reliance during the 4-day event.
While in the Malaysian capital, Xu also addressed the 2024 International Medical Device Exhibition, held by the Ministry of Health and the Medical Device Authority of Malaysia. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended the closing ceremony of the exhibition, where he praised the work of the GHWP.
On the sidelines of the gathering, Xu held talks with Muralitharan Paramasua, chief executive of Malaysia's Medical Device Authority, and participated in 10 meetings with delegates from relevant countries, regions and international organizations.
