NMPA to enhance cooperation with drug regulatory authorities of Vietnam, Thailand

In order to implement the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Vietnam and Thailand, Li Li, commissioner of China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), led a delegation to visit Vietnam and Thailand from Nov 11 to 15 to discuss practical cooperation in drug regulation with related departments.

During the visit to Vietnam, the delegation held talks with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on deepening bilateral cooperation in areas such as the exchange of information on drug, medical device and cosmetic regulation, the sharing of regulatory experience related to the Good Manufacturing Practice, drug inspections and quality control. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in regulation of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics.

During the visit to Thailand, the delegation met with the Thai Food and Drug Administration to discuss strengthening the sharing of regulatory experience, information exchanges, inspection cooperation and international coordination. The two sides signed an MoU to further collaborations in the regulation of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics.

The drug regulatory authorities of China and those of Vietnam and Thailand have agreed to further strengthen communication and exchanges under the new regulatory cooperation framework, promote the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry and jointly safeguard public health and well-being.

The Chinese delegation also visited drug testing institutions, clinical trial institutions and related pharmaceutical enterprises in the two countries.
