China’s NMPA signs MoU on regulatory cooperation of medicines, medical devices, cosmetics with Italian Ministry of Health, Italian Medicines Agency

The closing ceremony of the 10th joint plenary session of the China-Italy Government Committee was held on Dec 29, 2020 via video link.

Witnessed by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Commissioner Jiao Hong signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on regulatory cooperation of medicines, medical devices and cosmetics with Nicola Magrini, head of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), and Achille Iachino, the delegate of the Italian Ministry of Health.

For a long time, drug regulatory departments of China and Italy have maintained a good cooperative relationship. Under the framework of the MoU, drug regulators of the two countries will strengthen exchanges in laws and regulatory information, enhance mutual understanding and push forward personnel and technological exchanges on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, so as to enhance regulatory capabilities and further deepen regulatory cooperation of medicines, medical devices and cosmetics.
