Shanghai reports 5 new imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI -- Shanghai reported five imported COVID-19 cases and no domestically transmitted cases on Sept 28, the municipal health commission said Tuesday.

The imported cases were all Chinese nationals, with one departing from Britain, two from the Philippines and the other two from Japan.

A total of 100 people in close contact with the patients on the same flights have been put under quarantine.

The municipal health commission said a total of 655 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Monday. Among them, 604 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 51 continued to receive treatment in hospital with one in severe condition.

By Monday, the municipality had reported 342 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including seven deaths.
