Yang Sheng meets with WHO officials

Yang Sheng, deputy commissioner of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), met with Rogerio Gaspar, Director of the Regulation and Prequalification Department of the World Health Organization (WHO) and WHO Representative to China, Martin Taylor, in Beijing on Nov 7.
They engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the WHO Listed Authority (WLA) assessment, capacity building for drug regulatory agencies and future cooperation.
Gaspar gave a detailed presentation on the significance, procedures, indicators and requirements of the WLA assessment. He spoke highly of the tangible achievements China has made in building and developing its drug regulatory system and expressed his hope that China would make greater contributions to global public health.
Yang said that the NMPA is actively preparing for the vaccine WLA assessment, and will continuously enhance its regulatory system and comprehensively improve its drug regulatory capabilities to ensure public access to safe drugs.
Officials from relevant departments and affiliated institutions of the NMPA were also present.
