Xu Jinghe attends GHWP Technical Committee open workshop

An open workshop for regulatory exchanges was held by the Technical Committee (TC) of the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) on June 14 in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong province. Xu Jinghe, deputy commissioner of China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), attended the event and delivered a speech.

Xu said that the GHWP is an important platform for regulatory cooperation among the member countries and regions. At present, the GHWP has formulated more than 40 technical guidance documents, which have effectively promoted the improvement of regulatory capabilities of member countries and regions. More efforts will be made to implement the Strategic Framework towards 2026, further enhance publicity and enforcement of the regulations and continuously promote regulatory capacity building, as well as accelerate regulatory convergence, coordination and reliance, so as to make new contributions to global public health.

The meeting participants were briefed on the GHWP Strategic Framework towards 2026, GHWP TC work progress and work plans, as well as the review requirements of in vitro diagnostic reagents and medical device software. More than 300 representatives from the GHWP member countries and regions attended the meeting. The event was livestreamed in 33 member countries and regions. The workshop received unanimous approval from participants and was recognized as an effective platform for global medical device companies and stakeholders to enhance their understanding of international regulatory standards.
