Over 900m vaccine doses given in China
China on June 14 passed the 900-million-dose COVID-19 vaccination milestone as it aims to vaccinate at least 70 percent of the target population by the end of this year, according to the latest data from the National Health Commission.
The commission said in a statement that China had administered more than 904.1 million doses as of Monday, up by nearly 1.14 million doses from Sunday.
Data shows that currently, it only takes about 6 days for China to deliver 100 million doses, compared with 25 days in late March.
Zeng Yixin, deputy head of the commission, said during an earlier interview that it is expected that at least 70 percent of target groups will be fully vaccinated by the end of this year.
Health experts have estimated that 70 to 80 percent of total population should be fully vaccinated in order to establish herd immunity against the novel coronavirus.
